Breaking News- RTRS-China's orders for U.S. soy seen as overexuberant

BEIJING, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Exuberant U.S. soy shipments to China could collapse in the face of waning demand and strong supply and some buyers could cancel orders in the next few months, traders said on Tuesday.

After China booked an unprecedented 20 million tonnes of soy from the United States in the current marketing year, or 70 percent more than last year , sellers are counting on an even stronger Chinese appetite this year, with the worst of the financial crisis widely thought to have passed.

HAMBURG, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Better weather has improved prospects for Argentina's soybean crop in early 2010 although the final harvest outcome is still unclear, Hamburg-based oilseeds analysts Oil World said on Tuesday.

DJI-NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq rose on Tuesday as better-than-expected factory orders and a surge in vehicle sales at Ford Motor Co provided more evidence of an economic recovery.

But a big decline in pending home sales, which fell in November for the first time in nine months, increased concerns about the housing market. That capped the broad market's gains and pushed the Dow industrials into the red a day after all three major U.S. stock indexes rose to their highest levels in over a year.

NYMEX-NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures fell back in post-settlement trading on Tuesday after industry data showed a surprise increase in distillate stocks overall, even though heating oil supplies fell.

Crude inventories declined more than expected, data from the American Petroleum Institute showed, but traders had been focusing on distillates for guidance.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange at 5:10 p.m. EST(2210 GMT) February crude was down 13 cents, or 0.16 percebt, at $81.38 a barrel. It had settled up 26 cents, or 0.32 percent, at $81.77, the highest since the $86.59 close on Oct. 9, 2008. It traded from $80.95 to $82, matching the 2009 peak hit on Oct. 21, which was the highest since intraday prices hit $84.83 on Oct. 14, 2008.

CBOT-CHICAGO, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade grains and soy complex close on Tuesday.

CBOT-SOYBEANS - January up 2-3/4 cents at $10.52-1/4 a bushel. March up 3 at $10.61. Choppy, market fluctuated between positive and negative territory in rangebound trade.

CBOT-SOYOIL - January down 0.19 cent at 40.71 cents per lb. March down 0.19 at 41.10. Meal/oil spreading weighs.

FCPO-KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Malaysian crude palm oil futures ended higher on Tuesday, off 7-month highs hit earlier in the session as investors booked profits on a rally boosted by crude oil and expectations of strong demand.

The weaker dollar also boosted market sentiment, as investors favoured commodity and equity plays over the greenback on signs the U.S. economy would start to recover.

REGIONAL EQUITIES-BANGKOK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Most Southeast Asian stock markets rose on Tuesday, with Malaysia hitting a 19-1/2-month high and Singapore testing 17-month peak as blue chips recouped recent losses, from Indonesia's Bumi Resources to Singapore's Wilmar.

Singapore's index <.FTSTI> ended up 0.9 percent after hitting its highest level in 17 months, with CapitaLand rising 1.9 percent and Keppel Corp , the world's largest rig maker, 1.3 percent higher.

Malaysia <.KLSE> leapt 1 percent after testing its highest level since May 20, 2008, as Sime Darby edged up 2.4 percent, in line with higher palm oil prices.

NYMEX Crude Daily: Shies Away


Market shies away after tested the recent high at USD82.00. Immediate technical outlook remains positive while waiting for a convincing breakout. Next resistance will be looking at USD85.00 to 90.00. Downside support remains at USD79.00.

FCPO Daily: Facing some resistance at 2700 levels.


Market looks has facing some resistance at 2700 levels following 2nd attempts trying to break through it but failed to stay firm. However, immediate technical landscape remains in positive posture. Thus, we maintain sideways to higher in near term with upside resistance pegged at 2730-2760 followed by 2800 levels. To the downside, support is lies at 2600-2580 levels.

FKLI Daily: Bulls charged higher


Bulls continue to charge higher following a convincing breakout from the overhead resistance at 1286 levels. As for now, we continue to look for the upside resistance at 1295-1310 levels. Downside support is remains pegged at 1274-1272 (gap left over on 4/1/2010).

Trader's Highlight

DJI-NEW YORK, Jan 4 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks climbed broadly on Monday after a report showed the manufacturing sector expanded for a fifth straight month, lifting confidence in the global economy as investors eye fourth quarter earnings.

The rally, which marked the first trading day of 2010, drove both the Dow and the S&P 500 to their highest closes in 15 months, while the Nasdaq ended at a 16-month high.

NYMEX-NEW YORK, Jan 4 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures rose on Monday for the eighth day in a row, as cold weather was seen boosting heating demand, Russia and Belarus feuded over oil pricing and signs of manufacturing strength fed hopes for more energy demand. The weaker dollar also helped lift oil prices to start the
new year.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, February crude settled up $2.15, or 2.71 percent, at $81.51 a barrel, the highest settlement since Oct. 9, 2008's $86.59. It traded from $79.63 to $81.68, the highest since prices hit an intraday
peak of $81.78 on Oct. 23, 2009.

CBOT-CHICAGO, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade grains and soy complex close on Monday.

CBOT-SOYBEANS - January up 9-3/4 cents at $10.49-1/2 a bushel; March up 9-1/2 at $10.58. Weak dollar, higher crude oil and gold give support to soy in addition to continued buying of U.S. soy by China. Soy rallies to highest spot price since Dec. 16, but profit-taking pushes market off day's highs.

CBOT-SOYOIL - January up 0.55 cent at 40.90 cents per lb; March up 0.51 at 41.29 cents. Following soybeans with weak dollar and firm crude oil lending support.

FCPO-KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Malaysian crude palm oil futures rose 0.6 percent on Monday, propelled by crude oil's advance to $81 a barrel and expectations of strong food demand in the first quarter of this year.

Palm oil prices extended gains on the first trading day of 2010 after posting their largest annual climb in more than a decade last year and traders say festival demand from China will boost the market further.

REGIONAL EQUITIES-BANGKOK, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Stock markets in Singapore,
Thailand and the Philippines fell on the first trading day of
2010, but optimism over the global economy encouraged buying of
blue chips in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Singapore's benchmark stock index <.FTSTI> ended 2009 at its
highest level in 17 months but retreated 0.11 percent on Monday
after weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter GDP.

Malaysia's main index <.KLSE>, the region's worst performer,
rose 0.23 percent to a six-week high, pushed up by buying of palm
plantation firm Sime Darby Bhd and second-largest
lender CIMB Group .

CBOT Soyoil Daily: More room to bias upside potential


Market violated the upside resistance at Usc41.40 and and end off the high. Thus, we may foresee more room to bias upside potential in near term with upside is projected at Usc42.23-42.48 (gap left over on 6/10/2008)followed by USc43.50-43.80. To the downside, support is lies at USc40.00-39.50.

NYMEX Crude Daily: Bias to upside potential


A strong rallied with printed a a long white candle had beautified the immediate technical outlook to bias upside potential while waiting for a significant breakout from the recent high at USD82.00. Next resistance will be looking at USD85.00 to 90.00. Downside support is pegged at USD79.00.

FCPO Daily: Forming a concrete base at 2600 levels


Market continue to build up a concrete base at 2600 levels for a sustainable rally in near term. Thus, market may want to challenge the upside resistance at 2730-2760 followed by 2800 levels. To the downside, support is lies at 2600-2580 levels.

FKLI Daily: May want to challenge 1300 levels.


Market gap up to stay firm above 1280 levels had strengthen further the market upward momentum. We are waiting for the significant breakout from the overhead resistance at 1286 levels. Violation of it may provide more room to bias upside potential with upside is projected at 1295-1310 levels.While, downside support is pegged at 1274-1272 (gap left over on 4/1/2010).

Trader's Highlight

DJI- NEW YORK, Dec 31 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended 2009 on Thursday with their best gains since 2003, driven by optimism about the economy's recovery and a brighter outlook for profits.

The benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 23.5 percent for the year, while the Dow climbed 18.8 percent and the Nasdaq jumped 43.9 percent from its close on Dec. 31, 2008.

NYMEX- NEW YORK
, Dec 31 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures ended slightly higher on Thursday, up a seventh straight session and reaching $80 a barrel intraday for the first time since November.

Crude oil futures ended the year up 78 percent from the $44.60 settlement on Dec. 31, 2008, the biggest percentage calendar year rise in a decade.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange on Thursday, February crude rose 8 cents, or 0.1 percent, to settle at $79.36 a barrel, trading from $79.16 to $80.00, highest intraday price since $80.33 was struck on Nov. 18.

CBOT- CHICAGO, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade grains and soy complex close on Thursday.

CBOT- SOYBEANS - January up 3-1/2 cents per bushel at $10.39-3/4. March up 4 at $10.48-1/2. Support from big number for soy in USDA's weekly export sales report that was released on Thursday. Soy also supported by ongoing short-covering after the slide of prices last week.

CBOT- SOYOIL - January up 0.86 cent per lb at 40.35 cents per lb. March up 0.86 at 40.78. Spillover support from soybeans with additional support from firm crude oil market.

FCPO- JAKARTA, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures ended up nearly 56 percent in 2009 to post their biggest annual climb in more than a decade and traders see room for more gains in the first quarter of 2010 on lower production and strong demand.
Palm oil gained 55.8 percent in 2009, the biggest gain since 1997, after having lost 44 percent in 2008.

CBOT Soyoil Weekly: May want to challenge USc41.40


Market looks is moving forward and may want to challenge the upside resistance at Usc41.40. A significant break out from it may strengthen further the immediate technical landscape to bias upside potential. To the downside, support is lies at USc39.00-38.00.

NYMEX Crude Weekly: Improved


Market improved a little following prices inching up to stay firm at above USD70.00. Thus, market looks may want to challenge the upside resistance at USD82.00. Violation of either USD82.00 or USD68.00 may give us a more clearer direction.

FCPO Weekly: Maintain in positive posture


Good closing for the week following prices violated the overhead resistance at 2650 levels has provided more room for further upside potential in near term. As for now, we are looking for the upside resistance at 2800. While, downside support is pegged at 2500-2480

FKLI Weekly: in Consolidation mode


Market extended its consolidation mode and continue to range in between 1250 to 1286 levels. We are still waiting for a significant breakout from the either way to provide us a more clearer picture.

Trader's Highlight

DJI-NEW YORK, Dec 30 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended a smidgen higher in very light trading on Wednesday as a stronger-than-expected report on Midwest U.S. business
activity was offset by investors taking profits in some of the year's better performers.

Still, the Dow and the Nasdaq eked out fresh highs for the year. The Standard & Poor's benchmark index is up 25 percent for 2009, putting it on track for its best year since 2003.

NYMEX-NEW YORK, Dec 30 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures ended higher on Wednesday after seesaw trading, lifted by a government inventory report showing crude and refined products stocks fell last week.

Cold weather in the U.S. and turmoil in OPEC-members Iran and Nigeria also were supportive, even as the stronger dollar helped limit crude futures' rise. A drop in gasoline inventories helped lift RBOB gasoline futures.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, February crude rose 41 cents, or 0.52 percent, to settle at $79.28 a barrel, trading from $78.46 to $79.80, highest intraday price since $79.92 was struck on Nov. 23.

CBOT-CHICAGO, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade grains and soy complex close on Wednesday.

CBOT-SOYBEANS
- January down 1-3/4 cents at $10.36-1/4 a bushel. Market receiving support from gains on crude oil market but prospects for big South American soybean crop in 2010 weigh.

CBOT-SOYOIL - January up 0.06 cent per lb at 39.49 cents per lb. Support from gains in crude oil.

FCPO-JAKARTA, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures ended up a fraction on Wednesday after gains in the crude oil market, but expectations of low exports for December and higher stocks capped the rise.

REGIONAL EQUITIES-BANGKOK, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Southeast Asian stock markets ended mixed on Thursday in a listless holiday-trading session, with Singapore falling back from a more than one-year high and Thailand easing off from its highest in two months.

Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index <.FTSTI> edged down 0.14 percent after a two-day rise, weighed down by casino operator Genting Singapore and shopping mall operator CapitaMalls , which each dropped almost 1 percent.

Malaysia's index <.KLSE> was up 0.3 percent, led by a 2.1 percent surge in industrial gas provider Petronas Gas and a 3.6 percent climb in pay-TV operator Astro All Asia Networks.

FCPO Daily: Missed the 2600 levels again


Market again failed to sustain at 2600 levels in a rather dull trading day. Consolidation phase is likely to continue in near term. to the upside, resistance is looking at at 2650. While, downside support is remain lies at 2575-2570 followed by 2500-2480.
